Game Nights: FAQ/FYI

Join us for our regular Friday night Game Night,
co-hosted by From My Shelf and Woolverine Games!

Game nights are every Friday from 6 to 9pm...

if you come early, that's fine, but
(1)you must help set up, and
(2)you can't get in the way of regular bookstore business,
since the bookstore is officially open for business until 6pm.
We appreciate your understanding about this!

Most game nights feature casual game play, for kids ages 10 to 110!

Free and open to the public, we usually have 4 to 6 small tables of game play running at any one time.

Participants play everything from Scrabble to chess, Heroclix to Yu-Gi-Oh!, Farkel to Magic the Gathering. We play dice games, card games, board games, strategy games, and word games; both traditional and contemporary.

A few quick rules, to keep it family-friendly, fair, and running smoothly:

(1) No swearing allowed! For every curse word you let slip, you owe us 5 pushups (or your very best effort!)

(2) We would prefer that you not bring a lot of "electronics" -- i.e. notepad, laptop, iPad, ipod, Gameboy, DS, etc. This is an event where we play face-to-face, with other people, and take a break from all the electronic tools in our lives

(3) Julian Stam, owner of Woolverine Games, will be available at the beginning of the evening and at the end of the evening to do some "trading" and/or "assessing" the value of certain cards or figures you own. He can't take constant requests throughout Game Night, since he will be judging or demonstrating games during that time.

(4) Game trade-in credit does not count towards bookstore purchases, and vice versa.

(5) PARENTS: While we are really happy to provide a space where kids can come play and hang out with friends, that does not mean we are responsible for the whereabouts of your children during this entire time. If you don't want them walking down to Dunkin' Donuts or the Green during Game Night hours, please discuss your expectations with your children beforehand.

Those things being said, we have a wonderful time, with lots of laughter and social time. We have a pretty regular group of male and female, ages 11 to 60-ish, who come to play all kinds of different games together, plus many people who come as their schedules allow.
